White & shadow

Few words today, but plenty of images. As research for my BookArtObject edition (Mise en place), I have been wanting to photograph little dishes and bowls and other kitchen-y things, and yesterday's gorgeous sun brought all that these pieces needed to entice & enthrall me. I had such fun! Since many of the things I gathered happened to be white, they also seemed perfect for this month's ROY G BIV challenge. In the brief time that the sun was in the studio, the light changed considerably, so there are cool whites/shadows and warm whites/shadows...and many whites in between.

If you look under my suggestions for "Inspiring places to visit' in the sidebar, you'll note several blogs are featuring 'White' today...I'm just off for a look myself.

A few more white-themed images will follow tomorrow, and maybe a few more words as well...

  1. Hi Lisa- I am laughing about the paper towel! I have almost the exact same shot which I didn't post...well maybe tomorrow. I am in love with all your variety of whites. It is amazing how the sun effects and changes the "color" of the ceramic cups and dishes. Thanks for continuing to play along--Julie

    1. Yes - paper towels are classic 'white'...though, actually, it's hard to find them without colorful designs printed all over them (which I truly dislike!). My favorite is a white-on-white flower 'pattern', but they're really hard to find!
And yes, the sun performed beautifully on the white china & other things.
Thank you again for the inspiration to search for ROY G BIV - it's been fun...

  2. Vintage whites! How beautiful and evocative they are! It's like looking through the window of an old china shop or peeking through the door of a century-old dining room. Wonderful work.

    1. It's amazing how the light actually makes the china/ceramic look 'vintage'. In fact, the pieces range from some of Ikea's finest (which has taken on an interesting crackled effect) to a modern collection from Bitossi + various odds & ends from here & there. I love how the shape/form of the pieces & their repetition/slight variations + the sun can create such magic...
Thanks for stopping by for a look!
